Joe: Alright, so we have our Bible expert, what's happening in Exodus 7?
Expert: Well, Joe, this is where God tells Moses and Aaron to go to Pharaoh and demand that he let the Israelites go. God gives them a sign to show Pharaoh that He is the one who sent them. He tells Aaron to throw down his staff and it turns into a snake.
Joe: Whoa, that's wild! So Pharaoh doesn't believe them?
Expert: Not initially, no. Pharaoh hardens his heart and refuses to let the Israelites go. So God sends the ten plagues to Egypt to try and persuade Pharaoh to let them go. The first plague is turning the Nile into blood, so all the water in Egypt is undrinkable.
Joe: Wow, that's intense. So what's the second plague?
Expert: The second plague is a plague of frogs. All the frogs in Egypt are driven out of the river and cover the land.
Joe: Yikes! So did Pharaoh finally give in after that?
Expert: No, he still refused. So God sent more plagues, like swarms of gnats and flies, disease on the livestock, boils on humans, hail, locusts, and darkness.
Joe: That's insane!
Expert: Finally, after the tenth plague, Pharaoh lets the Israelites go. The tenth plague is the death of all the firstborn sons in Egypt, but the Israelites are spared because they mark their doorposts with lamb's blood.
Joe: Wow, so God was serious about getting the Israelites out of Egypt!
Expert: Yes, He was. It was a powerful demonstration of His power and His faithfulness to His people.
