Joe: Alright, so we are talking about Exodus 24. So, what can you tell us about this chapter?

Bible Expert: Sure. This chapter is all about Moses and the Israelites making a covenant with God. God tells Moses to come up to the mountain and bring Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel with him.

Joe: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait a minute. What do you mean, "elders?"

Bible Expert: The elders of Israel were the leaders of the people. They were the ones chosen to represent the people and make decisions on their behalf.

Joe: Alright, so they go up to the mountain. What happens then?

Bible Expert: Well, when they get to the mountain, God appears in a cloud and speaks to Moses. He tells Moses to write down all the laws he is about to give them and to teach them to the people. Then, Moses and the elders make a covenant with God. They agree to keep God's laws and to obey his commandments.

Joe: Wow, that's pretty intense. So, what happens after that?

Bible Expert: After that, Moses and the elders sacrifice some animals to God. Then, God tells Moses to take a flat stone and write the Ten Commandments on it. He then puts the stone in the Ark of the Covenant and the people agree to worship only God.

Joe: That's crazy. So, what happens next?

Bible Expert: The next thing that happens is that God invites Moses and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu to come up to the mountain and see the glory of God. They see God and then God passes in front of them and proclaims his name. After that, Moses and the elders eat a special meal and drink a special wine in the presence of God.
