Joe: Alright, so we've made it to Exodus 37, what's going on here?

Bible Expert: Well, this chapter is all about the instructions to build the Ark of the Covenant. God commanded Moses to have Bezalel construct the Ark using acacia wood and overlaying it with gold.

Joe: Whoa, whoa, hold on. The Ark of the Covenant? Like the one in Indiana Jones?

Bible Expert: Uh...yes, that's the one. It was to be a sacred item, a representation of God's presence in the midst of his people.

Joe: Alright, so what else did God tell them to do?

Bible Expert: Well, God also commanded them to build two cherubim out of gold and place them on the Ark's lid. The cherubim were to be facing each other and looking down at the Ark.

Joe: (To Jamie) Hey, Jamie, get on Google and see if you can find a picture of these cherubim.

Jamie: Sure thing, Joe.

Bible Expert: God also commanded Moses to make a gold table to serve as a center for religious worship. This was to be placed in the Most Holy Place of the Tabernacle.

Joe: Alright, what else?

Bible Expert: God then instructed Moses to make a lampstand of pure gold and a golden altar, as well as other items to be used in the Tabernacle.

Joe: Wow, this is some serious stuff. So, did they do it?

Bible Expert: Yes, they followed God's instructions and built the Ark of the Covenant and all the other items. It was a sign that they were committed to following God's laws and living according to his will.
