Joe: Alright, well we have Bible Expert with us and we're ready to get into the chapter by chapter summary of the Bible. Let's start with Exodus 31.

Bible Expert: Sure, Exodus 31 is about the Lord appointing Bezalel and Oholiab to build and furnish the tabernacle.

Joe: Wow, sounds like a big job!

Bible Expert: Yes, it was. Bezalel was an incredibly gifted craftsman who was “filled with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship.” He was also given the ability to teach others in his craft.

Joe: That's amazing! So what did they build?

Bible Expert: They built the tabernacle, which was an elaborate tent-like structure that served as a portable temple for the Israelites. It was a place for the Lord to dwell among the people.

Joe: Whoa, that's deep. So what else is in the chapter?

Bible Expert: Well, the Lord also gave instructions for the Sabbath day to be kept holy, and he gave Moses the two tablets of the Ten Commandments.

Joe: Wait, the Ten Commandments? Jamie, quick, Google it for us!

Jamie (Sidekick): Sure thing, Joe. (googling) The Ten Commandments are the moral laws given by God to the Israelites. They include prohibitions against idolatry, murder, theft, dishonesty, and coveting, as well as instructions to honor one's parents, keep the Sabbath day holy, and not take the Lord's name in vain.

Joe: Awesome, so we got all that covered. Anything else in the chapter?

Bible Expert: Yes, the Lord also gave instructions for the construction of the priestly garments, and he promised to fill the tabernacle with his glory.
