Joe: Alright, we are here with our Bible expert and we are going to talk about the book of Acts, chapter 14.

Expert: Yes, in this chapter Paul and Barnabas continue their missionary work in the city of Lystra. They heal a man who had been crippled since birth and the people of the city think that they are gods and want to offer sacrifices to them.

Joe: Wait, so the people thought that Paul and Barnabas were gods?

Expert: Yes, they thought that Paul and Barnabas were the gods Zeus and Hermes.

Joe: Wow, that's crazy. What did Paul and Barnabas do?

Expert: They quickly reasoned with the people and told them that they were not gods but were instead servants of the Most High God. They also preached the gospel, encouraged the people to remain faithful and warned them against idolatry.

Joe: So, did the people listen to them?

Expert: Some of them did and some didn't. The Jews who lived in town became jealous and persuaded the people to turn against Paul and Barnabas and they had to flee the city.

Joe: That's wild. What did Paul and Barnabas do next?

Expert: They continued their missionary journey and went to the city of Iconium. There, they preached the gospel and the people responded positively. However, the Jews there stirred up the people and the two were forced to flee again.

Joe: Man, that's rough. What happened after that?

Expert: They went to the city of Antioch and preached the gospel there. The people responded positively and the two of them stayed there for a long time. They also appointed elders for the church there.

Joe: That's amazing. It sounds like Paul and Barnabas were really successful in their missionary work.

Expert: Yes, they were. They were able to spread the gospel and plant churches in many cities.
