Joe: Alright, so what's Ezekiel 5 all about?

Bible Expert: Well, Ezekiel 5 is all about God's judgement on Jerusalem. God instructs Ezekiel to take a sharp sword and shave his head, then divide the hair into three parts. He's then instructed to burn one part in the middle of the city, to take another part and cut it into pieces, and to take a third part and scatter it to the wind.

Joe: Wow, that's intense! What else?

Bible Expert: God then instructs Ezekiel to take a few of the hairs and bind them in the hem of his garment. He then says that these few hairs represent the few remaining righteous people in Jerusalem who will be spared the coming judgement.

Joe: What kind of judgement?

Bible Expert: God then says that he will send a plague of famine and pestilence upon Jerusalem, and that he will cause the city to become desolate. He also says that he will send a sword against the people of Jerusalem and that he will set his face against them.

Joe: That sounds pretty serious. What else?

Bible Expert: God also says that he will make Jerusalem a horror and an object of scorn, and that he will make the cities of Judah a desolation. He also says that he will send a fire upon Jerusalem which will consume the palaces of Jerusalem.

Joe: Whoah! Sounds like some serious judgement. Anything else?

Bible Expert: Yes, God also says that he will send wild animals to dwell in the ruins of Jerusalem, and that he will make the land desolate and a mockery. He also warns that if the people of Jerusalem do not repent and turn to him, they will suffer the same fate.
