Joe: Alright, so what have we got today?

Bible Expert: We have Ezekiel 22.

Joe: Ooh, that sounds exciting. So what’s going on in Ezekiel 22?

Bible Expert: Well, God is expressing His anger and disappointment with the people of Jerusalem. He calls them out for their wickedness and their refusal to repent. He then goes on to list all the sins they have committed: murder, idolatry, adultery, oppression of the poor, etc.

Joe: Wow, that is a lot of wickedness! So what does God say He will do about it?

Bible Expert: God says that because of their wickedness, He will bring judgement on them. He will bring in the Babylonian armies to lay siege to the city and He will bring destruction and chaos upon them.

Joe: Yikes! That sounds pretty harsh. So what does He say will happen to the people of Jerusalem?

Bible Expert: He says that the people will be scattered among the nations, and that the city will become a desolate ruin. He also says that He will no longer be with them, and that they will be an object of scorn and derision among the nations.

Joe: That sounds pretty grim. So what’s the takeaway from Ezekiel 22?

Bible Expert: The takeaway is that God is serious about sin, and He will punish it. He is also a God of grace and mercy, and He will forgive those who turn from their wickedness and repent.
