Joe: Alright, let's talk about 2 Kings 22! What's going on in this chapter?

Bible Expert: Well, Joe, this chapter introduces us to King Josiah of Judah. He was only 8 years old when he became king and he was incredibly devout. He had the temple of the Lord repaired and a priest named Hilkiah found a long-lost book of the law.

Joe: Whoa! A long-lost book? What was inside of it?

Bible Expert: Inside the book was the Law of Moses, which contained all the commandments and statutes that God had given to the Israelites.

Joe: That's so cool! So, what happened when Hilkiah read it to the king?

Bible Expert: Well, Josiah was so moved by the words in the book that he made a covenant with the Lord to obey all of the commandments written in it. He also ordered his people to follow God's commands and to get rid of any idols that were in the land.

Joe: Wow, that's pretty impressive. So, what else happened in the chapter?

Bible Expert: Well, after Josiah's reforms, a prophetess named Huldah spoke to him and told him that God would punish Judah for their sins, but that He would spare Josiah and his descendants.

Joe: That's incredible! So, what happened after that?

Bible Expert: After that, Josiah continued to follow God's commands and he even destroyed the idols and altars of other gods that were in the land. He also held a Passover feast in Jerusalem, which was the first one since the time of the Judges.

Joe: Amazing! So, what happened at the end of the chapter?

Bible Expert: Well, at the end of the chapter, Josiah dies in battle against the Egyptians and his son Jehoiakim succeeds him as king.
