Joe: Alright, welcome back everyone. We have with us today, Mr. Bible Expert. Now, what can you tell us about 2 Kings 3?

Bible Expert: Well, Joe, 2 Kings 3 is about the alliance between King Jehoram of Israel, King Jehoshaphat of Judah, and King Mesha of Moab.

Joe: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Stop right there. So, these three were allies?

Bible Expert: That's right. They were all looking to fight against King Hazael of Aram.

Joe: Alright, so why did they form this alliance?

Bible Expert: Well, Jehoram and Jehoshaphat wanted to reclaim the land that King Hazael had taken from Israel. So, they formed an alliance with the King of Moab to try and reclaim the land.

Joe: Got it. So, what happened next?

Bible Expert: Well, the three kings marched against Hazael, but they were unsuccessful. They were then running low on water, so they asked the Lord for help. The Lord then sent a prophet to them and told them that if they digged certain trenches, water would flow from them. And, sure enough, water did flow from the trenches and the three kings were able to continue the battle.

Joe: Wow, so then did they win the battle?

Bible Expert: No, they were still unsuccessful. But, the Lord did give them a small victory by allowing them to take some of Hazael's livestock and possessions as a sign of their victory.
