Joe: Alright, so what's the story of 1 Samuel 18?

Bible Expert: So this chapter starts with Saul's daughter, Michal, falling in love with David, who had just killed Goliath. Saul then made a deal with David, in which he promised to give him his daughter in marriage if he killed 100 Philistines.

Joe: Woah, that's a huge task. Did he do it?

Bible Expert: He sure did. Saul was so impressed with David that he kept adding more and more tasks for him to complete. He even gave David command of his army.

Joe: That's crazy! How did Saul's son, Jonathan, feel about all this?

Bible Expert: Well, Jonathan and David became very good friends. Jonathan was so loyal to David that he even gave him his own robe and armor.

Joe: Wow, that's really cool. So what happened after that?

Bible Expert: After that, Saul became increasingly jealous of David's success and wanted to kill him. Saul even tried to have him killed multiple times, but David was able to escape each time.

Joe: That's insane! So what happened next?

Bible Expert: Well, Saul eventually gave in and allowed David to marry his daughter, Michal. Saul also gave David land and wealth, though it didn't last long as Saul's jealousy continued to grow. Eventually, Saul threw a spear at David, but David escaped yet again.

Joe: Wow, that's wild. What happened after that?

Bible Expert: After that, Saul tried one last time to have David killed, this time enlisting the help of the Philistines. However, the Philistines were defeated and David and Michal were able to escape safely.
