Joe: Alright, so what have we got here?
Bible Expert: Well, Joe, this is John 19 of the Bible. It tells the story of Jesus' crucifixion.
Joe: Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold up. What's crucifixion?
Bible Expert: Crucifixion was a form of execution reserved for the worst criminals, in which the person was nailed to a cross and left to die.
Joe: Oh, wow. So Jesus was crucified?
Bible Expert: Yes. The chapter starts with Pontius Pilate ordering Jesus' crucifixion, and then it follows him as he is taken to be crucified.
Joe: Let me guess, it doesn't go well?
Bible Expert: No, not really. Jesus is mocked and beaten by the Roman soldiers and then forced to carry his own cross to Golgotha.
Joe: Wow, that's pretty intense.
Bible Expert: It gets worse. Once he arrives at Golgotha, he is nailed to the cross and mocked some more by the people watching. Then, Jesus dies on the cross.
Joe: Damn. So, what happens then?
Bible Expert: Well, after Jesus dies, he is buried in a tomb. But then, three days later, he rises from the dead and ascends into heaven.
Joe: Jamie, Google that. Seriously, Jesus rising from the dead? That's crazy.
Bible Expert: Well, that's the story of John 19.
