Joe: "Alright, so what do you got for us in 2 Samuel 9?"

Bible Expert: "Well Joe, this chapter is about David showing kindness to Mephibosheth, a member of the house of Saul. Mephibosheth was the son of Jonathan, who was David's best friend."

Joe: "Woah, hang on, best friend? That's pretty heavy stuff. Tell me more about that."

Bible Expert: "Well, Mephibosheth had been crippled when he was a child and he was living in obscurity in Lo-debar when David learned of his existence. David invited Mephibosheth to come to his court and he provided him with a place at the royal table and restored to him all the land that belonged to his grandfather Saul."

Joe: "That's pretty amazing. So what else happened in this chapter?"

Bible Expert: "David also gave Mephibosheth's servant Ziba some land to farm and he gave them provisions from the royal household. He also promised to take care of Mephibosheth for the rest of his life. In addition, he gave Ziba and his sons and servants the right to farm on the land of Saul."

Joe: "Wow, David really went out of his way to show kindness to Mephibosheth. Anything else?"

Bible Expert: "That's it for 2 Samuel 9. In the next chapter, we will see David's response to a challenge from the Philistines."

Joe: "Sounds exciting! Jamie, make sure you write that down so we can come back to it later."
