Joe: Alright, so we're on Job 39. What can you tell us about this chapter?
Expert: Well, in this chapter, God is continuing to question Job about his understanding of the world around him. He's asking if Job can comprehend the behavior of the animals he sees.
Joe: Like what kind of animals?
Expert: Well, like the wild donkey, the wild ox, the wild goats, the wild deer, the wild ostrich, and so on. God is asking Job if he has the same understanding of these animals that God does, because He is their creator.
Joe: That's wild! So God created all these animals?
Expert: That's right. God is also asking Job if he can control the animals or even understand their behavior. He's asking if Job can give them orders, or tell them where to go.
Joe: So you mean that Job can't control these animals?
Expert: Right, the animals are all under God's control and Job has no power over them. God is using this example to show Job that he is not as powerful as He is. He's also asking Job if he can make the animals fly, or if he can understand their language.
Joe: That's incredible! So I guess Job can't do any of those things?
Expert: Exactly. God is trying to show Job that there are some things that only He can do. He's reminding Job that He is all-powerful and that Job should trust in Him.
