Joe: Alright, so we're back and we've got Bible expert Dr. ____ in the house. He's here to tell us about Numbers 3. Dr. ____, what's the deal with Numbers 3?

Dr. ____: Well, Joe, in Numbers 3, we see God's appointment of the tribe of Levi to serve as priests in the Tabernacle. He then lays out the specific duties and responsibilities of the priests, as well as the regulations for their payment.

Joe: Interesting. How were the Levites chosen for this role?

Dr. ____: Well, God chose the Levites from among the twelve tribes of Israel to be His representatives. He assigned the Levites the responsibility of caring for the Tabernacle, which was a tent-like structure that served as the home of the divine presence in the midst of the Israelites.

Joe: Whoa, that sounds pretty intense! What else can you tell us about the Levites' duties?

Dr. ____: Well, the Levites were responsible for performing sacrifices and other rituals, as well as attending to the needs of the people. They were also responsible for teaching the laws of God and serving as mediators between God and the people of Israel.

Joe: Wow, that's a lot of responsibility! So, what about the payment for the Levites?

Dr. ____: God commanded that the Levites should receive no inheritance in the land of Israel, and instead be supported by the offerings of the people. They were to receive no wages, except for the portions of the offerings that were given to them for their service.
