Joe: Alright so what are we talking about?

Bible Expert: Well, Joe, we're looking at the 6th chapter of Numbers.

Joe: Oh yeah, I think I heard about this one! So what's it about?

Bible Expert: Well, the Lord gives Moses instructions for the Israelites on how to conduct the Nazirite vow.

Joe: Woah, Nazirite vow? What's that?

Bible Expert: The Nazirite vow was a special vow taken by some of the Israelites to separate themselves from the rest of the people. They would abstain from drinking wine, eating grapes, and cutting their hair.

Joe: That's wild! So what else happened in this chapter?

Bible Expert: Well, the Lord tells Moses how to bless the people with a special blessing. This blessing was to be spoken by the priest over the people, and it was to bring God's favor upon them.

Joe: Interesting. So, what was the exact wording of the blessing?

Bible Expert: The Lord told Moses to say, "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace."

Joe: Wow, that's powerful. So, what happened after that?

Bible Expert: After that, the Lord tells Moses to inform the people that if any of them should take the Nazirite vow, they must bring a special offering to the Lord. This offering consisted of a male lamb or goat and a cereal offering, as well as oil and a drink offering.

Joe: Alright then, anything else in this chapter?

Bible Expert: Yes, the Lord explains that the Nazirite was to shave his head at the end of the vow in the presence of the priest and the priest was to take the hair and burn it as an offering.

Joe: Whoa, that's pretty intense. Anything else?

Bible Expert: Yes, the Lord tells Moses to instruct Aaron and his sons to bless the people with the same words as the blessing he gave to Moses.

Joe: Wow, so that's Numbers 6 in a nutshell. Pretty interesting stuff!
