Joe: Alright, so let's talk about Mark 8 of the Bible. What's this chapter about?
Bible Expert: Well, Joe, this chapter begins with Jesus and his disciples having just finished feeding the four thousand people. Then, Jesus and the disciples set out for the region of Dalmanutha.
Joe: Oh wow, that's crazy! How did Jesus manage to feed four thousand people?
Bible Expert: Well, it was a miracle. Jesus took seven loaves of bread and a few small fish and through a blessing, was able to feed the entire crowd.
Joe: Wow, that's amazing! So, what happens next?
Bible Expert: Well, the Pharisees then come to Jesus and ask for a sign. But Jesus refuses and instead warns them against the "yeast of the Pharisees".
Joe: Whoa, that sounds intense. What's the yeast of the Pharisees?
Bible Expert: Well, this is referring to the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and their teachings. Jesus is warning them not to follow their teachings blindly, but to seek the truth themselves.
Joe: Interesting. So, what else happens in this chapter?
Bible Expert: Well, Jesus then goes on to heal a blind man in Bethsaida. Then, he and the disciples cross the Sea of Galilee and arrive in the region of Magadan. Here, Jesus predicts his own death and resurrection.
Joe: Whoa, that's crazy! So, Jesus knew he was going to die?
Bible Expert: Yes, Jesus knew that he would have to die in order to atone for the sins of mankind.
Joe: Wow, that's heavy. Alright, so what happens in the end?
Bible Expert: In the end, Jesus and the disciples travel to Caesarea Philippi and Jesus asks his disciples who they think he is. Peter answers that Jesus is the Christ, and Jesus then tells them they must deny themselves, take up their crosses and follow him.
