Joe: Alright, so we're talking about Luke 14. What is this chapter about?

Bible Expert: Well, it's a chapter about Jesus teaching people how to live their lives and how to treat others. It starts with Jesus being invited to a Pharisee's house for dinner and then goes on to describe a few parables that Jesus told.

Joe: Cool, so what is one of these parables about?

Bible Expert: One of the parables is about a great banquet that a king throws for his son's wedding and how he invites a lot of people to come, but they all make excuses and don't come. So, the king tells his servants to go out into the streets and invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame to come to the banquet instead.

Joe: Wow, that's pretty wild. What else happens in this chapter?

Bible Expert: Jesus also tells a parable about a builder who builds a tower but doesn't count the cost before he starts, so he can't finish the project. Jesus is using this parable to talk about counting the cost of following Him and doing what He wants us to do.

Joe: Interesting. Anything else in Luke 14?

Bible Expert: Yes, there is. Jesus also talks about hating our families in order to follow Him. He says that if we want to be His disciples, we must hate our families and love Him more than anyone else.

Joe: That's pretty intense. Alright, well that about does it for Luke 14. Thanks for joining me on the show today.
