Joe: Alright, so we've got the Bible Expert here. Tell us what Daniel 8 is all about.
Bible Expert: Well, Daniel 8 is about a vision that Daniel had in which he saw a ram with two horns. The ram symbolizes the kings of Media and Persia.
Joe: Wow, that's wild. What else did he see?
Bible Expert: Daniel saw a goat with a single large horn between its eyes. This symbolizes the king of Greece. The goat attacked the ram and crushed it.
Joe: So what does that mean?
Bible Expert: It symbolizes the fall of the Medo-Persian empire at the hands of the Greeks.
Joe: That's crazy. What else happened?
Bible Expert: The goat then began to grow in power and the large horn was broken off and four horns grew in its place.
Joe: What does that mean?
Bible Expert: It symbolized the break up of the Greek empire and the rise of the four kingdoms of Greece, Syria, Egypt and Macedonia.
Joe: Interesting. Anything else?
Bible Expert: Daniel then saw a little horn arise, which symbolizes the rise of Antiochus IV Epiphanes, a ruler of the Seleucid Empire. He was a cruel and wicked ruler who persecuted the Jews.
Joe: That's horrible. What happened next?
Bible Expert: Daniel saw a heavenly being who told him that Antiochus' power would be destroyed and the Jews would be restored.
Joe: That's great news. Anything else?
Bible Expert: Yes, Daniel was also told that the vision was for the distant future and that it would not be fulfilled until many years later.
