Joe: Hey everybody, we've got a special guest on the show today, a Bible expert. So, why don't you start by telling us all about 1 Chronicles 11

Bible Expert: Sure, 1 Chronicles 11 is an account of how all the people of Israel united to make David, the shepherd and youngest son of Jesse, their king.

Joe: Whoa, hold up, that's really cool! So, the people of Israel all just decided to make David their king, just like that?

Bible Expert: Well, not exactly. It was a bit more complicated than that. In 1 Chronicles 11, it explains how David was anointed as king by the people of Judah, then he was also anointed by the tribes of Benjamin and Manasseh. Then the people of Israel gathered around him and made a covenant with him, promising to serve him and make him king over them all.

Joe: Interesting. So, what else happens in this chapter?

Bible Expert: Well, the chapter also tells of how David assembled a great army and took control of Jerusalem. He then fortified the city, making it his capital, and built a palace for himself there.

Joe: Wow, that's quite a story. So, Israel is now a united kingdom under David's rule?

Bible Expert: That's right. And 1 Chronicles 11 also tells of how David's mighty men joined him and were very loyal and brave in battle. They achieved great feats, such as capturing the water source of the Jebusites, which allowed David to take control of the city.

Joe: That's incredible. So, all of that happened in one chapter?

Bible Expert: Yes, it all happened in one chapter. It's quite a remarkable story of how the people of Israel united to make David their king and how he was able to take control of Jerusalem and make it his capital.
